She's Crafty...

Here's a little background before I tell you about my project...

I still live at home. Yes, a 28 year old woman... living with my parents and little sister... in the same room that I have had since I was 15. Sounds sad... but it isn't! My parents helped me buy a house, which I currently rent out.. (and I hope to live in it with my boyfriend when he gets the nerve to ask me to marry him) I work at the family business which is so slow that the paychecks are not steady... so I live at home rent free... in a beautiful house. I have enough room that I don't feel suffocated. I love my parents, and really get along with them- so living at home hasn't been that bad. I also am at my boyfriend's apartment all the time... so it also makes it seem better.

Anyway, back to the crafty part of this post... I have been in the same room with the same furniture for years. Yes the walls went from Blink 182 posters to framed pictures and art, but still... that bed... I had been looking at that wrought iron leaves bed for 13 years. I wanted a change, and looked online for some ideas.

I decided that I wanted to go with a leather look. But I wanted something different than what I was seeing. I wanted sparkles. I wanted rhinestones. No furniture place that I looked at had exactly what I wanted- so instead I looked up how to make your own headboard!

Here is what I needed for the headboard:

1 piece of plywood (Home Depot will cut it to any size you need)
2 pieces of 1x2 wood for the legs
Long screws to attach the legs to the headboard
Furniture Foam
Your favorite material (enough to wrap around the front of the plywood and foam, so that there is at least 2-3 inches on the back to staple down to the plywood)
Bolts & nuts for the tufting

A Cordless drill
A staple gun
A glue gun

I ordered some rhinestone buttons for the tufting.

Since I was re-doing my room, I bought some cheap black nightstands as well ($99 each from Urban Home.) I added the rhinestones I bought to the simple metal drawer pulls that I found with the glue gun. I really love how it turned out.

I also made a french bulletin board and some coasters- I had to add sparkles to both of those too! Check out the pictures.

Here are the before and after pix!

If you want more detailed instructions let me know.

Everybody's Doing It

Hi There- I'm Enj!

Welcome to my blog!

Ok, so I copied a few people I know (Nic & Val!) and started my own blog... I don't have fashion advice (I wear my favorite things over and over again) and I won't have recipes (I only cook a few items, and am lucky enough to have a boyfriend that cooks for me!)

But what I will have is a place to tell my stories, be able to vent, and basically-and most importantly- have something to do when I'm bored at work! Hopefully while I'm at it-it will entertain a few people out there in cyberspace.

I'm in my late 20s and I adore my family, friends, and boyfriend. I also adore sparkles. I named my blog Enj loves sparkles... cuz I do. Glitter, rhinestones, sparkley things... I love them. Random fact of the day! (There will be many more random things, so be warned.)

Thanks for stopping by!
